561 yearly lows; Paper loses its footing

The Nifty's modest fall hides deeper damage, while yesterday's Paper exception gives way.

Yesterday's breakdown has deepened, and Paper's resilience has now turned too. The market remains Neutral — Fading. The modest index fall understates the damage underneath. This remains a market for selective screening and reviewing existing trends, rather than expanding a watchlist simply because setups appear.

Long-term breadth weakened again: just 24.4% of stocks are above their 200-day average, down from 28.4% yesterday. Stage 2 participation is also at a six-week low. Over five sessions, 12 stocks moved from basing to advancing against 59 moving from advancing to topping. Yesterday's narrowing in that deficit did not continue. A stronger index session alone would not establish repair; participation needs to improve alongside it.

The exceptions are getting narrower

Paper, which held up yesterday, lost both price and participation today. Telecom equipment fell another 1.9%, though its advancing share held at 50%. Energy offered relative shelter with a flat session and 51.7% advancing, still the highest sector participation. IT retains monthly return leadership at 8.2%, but its advancing share remains 21.5%. Financials slipped to 18.8% advancing; public banks held their 25% share despite falling 2%. These are isolated areas of resilience, not evidence of broad rotation into advancing trends.

Keep the shortlist separate from the exits

For early-stage chart study, Delta Corp leads with a setup score of 8.4, followed by One Point One Solutions at 8. These are screening candidates, not confirmation that conditions favour fresh commitments. Existing trend reviews deserve priority: Tata Motors and Siemens moved from advancing to topping tonight. Emcure Pharmaceuticals and Jubilant Foodworks made the same move. For anyone tracking those companies, that stage change matters more than their previous place on a shortlist.
