Friday's partial breadth repair has broken again. Decliners outnumbered advancers by 1,996 to 494, and participation weakened beyond the short-term averages. Tomorrow's screening routine remains selective chart study, not a broad search for market-wide confirmation.

The rebound did not repair the trend

The share above the 20-day average fell from 33.9% to 25.3%. Just 34.5% remain above the 200-day average. Yearly lows rose to 307 against 74 highs, widening the negative gap again.

A correction to Friday's note: its Stage 2 share is now revised to 28%, rather than the 27.5% we reported. Tonight's 27.7% is a six-week low, not an improvement. Over five sessions, 13 stocks moved from basing to advancing against 73 moving from advancing to topping. That deficit is unchanged from the revised Friday reading.

Public banks are an exception, not sector repair

The Financials erosion we have been following remains live: its advancing share is down 11.2 percentage points over 20 sessions. Public banks offer a distinct counterpoint, with 25% advancing and a 16.7-point expansion over that period. Their strength does not yet describe the wider sector.

Energy held its 51.7% advancing share, but its participation expansion remains absent. IT fell 1.1%; its leading monthly return still contrasts with only 22.2% advancing. Paper's bounce also reversed in price, down 2.4%, while its advancing share held at 36%.

Telecom equipment is another pocket worth separating from its sector: it rose 1.8%, with 55.6% advancing. These are narrow areas of resilience, not evidence of broad rotation.

Early setups remain individual exceptions

Sunflag Iron and Steel Co, Alicon Castalloy and Kilitch Drugs (India) lead the early advancing setups, each scoring 8.4 out of 10. They are candidates for chart study; their presence does not override weak market participation.

Tonight's stage changes also matter: IDFC First Bank, UNO Minda and Kalyan Jewellers India moved from advancing to topping. Physicswallah and GPT Infraprojects returned from topping to advancing. These classification changes are screening information, not trading instructions.
