Yesterday's breadth surge has gained an important confirmation: yearly highs now exceed lows, and Nifty has cleared its long-term average. Our caution about shrinking advancing participation still holds. Neutral — Fading remains the market's state. Tomorrow's routine can give more attention to emerging setups, but an index rally is still insufficient reason to relax the individual trend checks.

The rebound reaches further

Short-term participation has reached a six-week high, though only 38.4% of stocks are above their 200-day average. The Stage 2 drain we have followed continues. Over the last five sessions, 14 stocks moved from basing to advancing against 106 moving from advancing to topping. Breadth is repairing faster than established trends.

Financials shows a tentative turn

Financials, which we have flagged for depleted participation, improved to 20.4% advancing from 19.7% yesterday. Nuvama Wealth Management and Angel One returned from topping to Stage 2. Public banks retain their narrower pocket of improvement, with advancing participation up 8.3 percentage points over 20 sessions. Punjab National Bank remains an early setup, sitting 7.5% above its own 50-day average. These are signs of repair within a still-thin sector.

Refresh the research list, and check the exits

Pradeep Metals now heads the early setups with a score of 8.4, followed by Tips Music at 8.3. Tech Mahindra remains an early candidate, but IT participation slipped to 21.5% despite its price rally. That gap matters more tonight because eClerx Services left Stage 2 for topping. Shriram Pistons & Rings and Tbo Tek also made that transition, as did Jindal SAW. For existing holdings, reviewing these stage changes deserves as much attention as researching fresh candidates.
